Thread: What do you look for?

Question What do you look for?

When considering joining a guild what do you expect the guild to do?

It's just I got an interesting offer off Eldd and I'm seriously considering it but what in your opinion should a guild offer to make it worthwhile?

Last guild that I co-owned with Splifftastic had it's own site and a forum but our guild members were hardly ever logged into the game and never used the forum. We wanted to hold events etc for our guildies but they were never online with the exception of ourselves and 1 or 2 others. Very disheartening, especially when you have such high hopes lol

Well, cause I started the discussion, then I should go on and tell what my expectations are; first of all, I'd really like, as much as that is possible, not to have irritating kids or youngsters. I really take no pleasure in leet speak, unchecked language and showing off. Maybe I am too old for this, as my wife puts it.

My online time is around 2-3 hours, could be less, could be a little more, in the afternoon here (my time is GMT+2), every day, and on weekends on and off most of the day (except house chores, seeing a movie, going out shopping, usual stuff). I am not expecting all guild members to be online at the same time, or all the time, we all have real lives as well, but I do expect seriousness, a friendly and helping environment, and mature people. Now as EhKho pointed it out, it's also a no-go to have let's say 40 members in the guild and 2-3 guys online at any given time, as my old guild used to have. On the other hand, I'd rather prefer a smaller guild, tightly knit-together, and a lot of common sense.

That's the way I see it, as I had some pretty unpleasant experiences with former guild. And now, considering this... I do have a one-man guild (now don't laugh) created by my assassin... never got anyone in; it's called Shambhala. Did I say don't laugh?

I like Shambhala, admittedly I had no idea why I should or shouldn't laugh so I went to Wikipedia lol. Interesting choice for a guild name and very deep in meaning but what made you choose that particular name? I know I'm very nosy lol

The Eastern culture and myths are of a rather great interest to me, hence Shambhala; for me it was supposed to mean enlightenment, spirituality, and a bit of supernatural. Too much to ask in an online game, but as it was my choice of name and meaning it was very easy

My knowledge of Eastern culture is rather limited to theory based Kung Fu and a little Mandarin. I actually quite like Shambhala, I think if I agree to your proposal we should keep the name.

Maybe, as you're a web designer, and if you agree with it, of course, we should get a better guild icon. If we'll meet in game, take a look at the current one and see if it needs reworking, cause I think it does... but you're the professional, you know what the guild means and aims at, and the rest is up to you.

Today, maybe later, in 2-3 hours or maybe sooner? Let a message either on forum or via PM.
